Refunds & cancellations

Last updated 1 September 2026

This page sits with the hire agreement. It does not take away rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). If there is a major failure, you may have a refund remedy the schedule below cannot reduce.

Enquiry vs booking

Sending an enquiry on this site does not reserve a date and does not create a payment. Cancellation rules below apply once you have accepted a written quote and paid a deposit toward set hire.

Deposit

Hire typically requires a 30% non-refundable deposit, with the balance due 14 days before the event. Your written quote is the source of truth if it states a different schedule.

If you cancel after depositing

  • The 30% deposit is non-refundable once paid (genuine pre-estimate of reserved stock and the lost date).
  • If you cancel after the balance due date (or within 14 days of the event), the quoted total is payable because the set is reserved and cannot reliably be re-hired.

We will not keep more than the quoted total. We will not invent extra restocking or bond percentages on this site.

If we cancel or fail to supply

You receive a full refund of money paid for the hire we did not perform, or another remedy required by the ACL (including for a major failure). You may also have rights to compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss — we will deal with that in good faith rather than hide behind website copy.

Change of date

If you postpone and the fulfilling studio can move the hire to a new date they can actually staff, the deposit rolls. If they cannot, it is treated as a cancellation under the deposit rule above.

How refunds are paid

Where a refund is due (for example if we cancel), card payments are returned to the same card where possible; bank transfers to the account they came from. Allow several business days after we agree the amount.

Damage invoices

Repair or replacement charges for damage beyond fair wear are not “non-refundable deposits”; they are invoiced after inspection, with photos. Dispute them in writing to hello@fauxflowerspecialists.com.
